I don’t know about you – my readers, but as for me I do scripture study everyday. Religion can be difficult and mind boggling. What to believe and what not to believe.
People have a tendency to use the Book of Revelations in the bible as their fortune telling book to tell them how the story ends.
We do need spiritual advice and spiritual revival in our lives. God has told us time after time that we are to repent of our sins, we are to turn to Him, and He will BLESS us in many ways.
One of those blessings is FREEDOM!
Ronald Reagan in his Inaugural address in 1967 stated: “Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”
I believe ‘Freedom begins in the heart of man as a gift from God.’ It is an incredible privilege as well as a weighty responsibility. It is extended to all. We should embrace it voluntarily, enjoy it and live it out.
President Reagan went on to warn us when he said,'” The deterioration of every government begins with the decay of the principle upon which it was founded.'” This is as true today as it was when it was written in 1748.”
We are presently in a precarious situation. Are we still capable of restoring the great foundations upon which our nation was built?
Reagan further admonished…”With all the profoujnd wording of the Constitution, probably the most meaninful words are the first three, “WE THE PEOPLE.”
He was speaking about those who are chosen to be put into the offices of government…meaning that they “are of the people, chosen by them to see that no permanent structure of government ever encroaches on freedom or assumes a power beyond that freely granted by the people.” He continues… “It is inconceivable to me that anyone could accept this delegated authority without asking for God’s help.” His prayer holds true today as well, that “those in governance who legislate and administer would be granted wisdom and strength beyond their own limited power; that with devine guidance they can avoid easy expedients as they work to build a state where liberty under law and justice can triumph, where compassion can govern and wherein the people can participate and prosper because of their government and not in spite of it.”
He continued by noting that the path charted would not be an easy one. The path would demand much of those chosen to govern, but also from those who did the choosing. He indicated, as well, that at the time he was being inaugurated to become President, that “there was no mistake about the fact that they had come to a crossroad and it was a time for decision.”
Webster’s dictionary lists many meanings regarding FREEDOM. For the sake of this blog I am choosing “the quality or state of being free: as absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action; liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another; Independence; Privilege; Liberty.
FREEDOM IS A FRAGILE THING….given freely to us from GOD. The question is WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THIS GREAT AND PRECIOUS GIFT THAT HAS BEEN ENTRUSTED TO YOU?
My choice is to become emotionally and spiritually stronger in spite of the struggle we are going through in these trying times. “I will walk by faith even when I cannot see.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
We must, as a people be a helpmate with GOD to rebuild this nation back to the solid foundation that it was created as ‘by GOD’ in the first place.
