Words are meaningful. How they are used; what they are used for; how they affect people, situations, beliefs, etc., the purpose for which they are chosen when used. Do they reflect who and what kind of person we are?
Absolutely – which leads to a word for thought – ATTITUDE.
What does the word ATTITUDE mean?
My handy, dandy, good old Websters dictionary explains it as: “The arrangement of the parts of a body or figure; a mental position with regard to a state or fact; a feeling or emotion toward something; a position assumed for a specific purpose, etc. I also checked google, and the Webster dictionary on line. It leans toward ‘the arrangement of the parts of a body or figure’. Interesting. Food for thought. The word is a noun, so therefore can be used in many ways.
As I was talking with a friend about old age, growing old, becoming a senior… she told me “that when she retired she quit doing all the things she was doing in her life while working and raising her family.” In other words, she just shut down, ate what she wanted, quit exercising, didn’t read, just sat back to relax and watch soap operas. She was one of many friends who told me the same or a similar story. Which meaning do we apply to that statement in regards to ATTITUDE? I would say all of them…how about you?
In this way of thinking, where does this kind of ‘attitude lead to?
Is this the beginning of poor health habits? Does this sound like you? Does this make the old saying, that so many folks have been sold to believe of, “It’s just what you do or what happens to you when you get old” – true? Do members of your family see this as a reason to put you in a nursing home, while they and you wait for your mind to deteriorate, and your body to break down. From the way I see it – possibly. If that is the case, they (the family members) don’t have to be responsible for your well being? And, they can go on with their lives until you meet your maker. Sound uncompassionate?Hopefully not! But then the truth can hurt.
Think about this. Where is your attitude leading you or has led you? What is your life like? What has happened through the years to your health, good or bad? Has it lead you into weekly/monthly visits to the doctor; days weeks in the hospital; inability to walk or move on your own without a cane, walker, or wheel chair; a lifetime of prescription meds – many of which you may or may not have become addicted to; in general misery, wishes to die, suicidal thoughts, and so on?
I pray not. If you now wish you had made other choices – for seniors the elderly, it isn’t too late; for those of you who are younger – “Prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.” Poor health can be reversed. The body can be regenerated or restored as the saying goes in today’s world.
For everybody – Read the bible, look into God’s methods, He told us about the herbs in the fields, the trees, the flowers, and even the meats/fishes that are edible in order to maintain a good strong healthy body, mind, and soul.
METHODOLOGY: Seek alternative health methods/doctors/mentors. Wean yourself away from traditional medicine, doctors, mentors, Pharmaceuticals and etc. There are many new age methods, theories for improving ones health to include (believe it or not), natural healing, sound frequency therapy, magnet healing therapy, red light therapy, etc.
RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. GET INFORMED. YOU HAVE CHOICES. THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT. DO YOU WANT TO MAKE THE BASKET OR MISS THE BASKET? IT IS UP TO YOU.
GOD BLESS.
