I received an inquiry from one of my readers about the Sciatica Nerve. This blog is to give ienformation to you of what, where, and how the sciatica nerve functions. (Resources: Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary; & The Detox Miracle Source Book by Robert Morse, N.D.)
SCIATICA….is severe pain in the leg along the course of the sciatica nerve felt and at the back of the thigh running down the inside of the leg. The SCIATICA NERVE is “the largest nerve in the body, arising from the sacral plexus on either side, passing from the pelvis through the greater sciatic foramen, down the back of the thigh where it divides into tibial and peroneal nerves.” In laymen terms: it begins in the lower back and runs through the buttock and down the lower limb. “Lesions cause paralysis of flexion and of adduction and abduction of toes, rotation inward and adduction of foot; plantar flexion and lowering of ball of foot; anesthesia (partial or complete loss of sensation) in cutaneous distribution (external popliteal nerve); paralysis of dorsal flexion and adduction (movement in case of digits toward axial line of a limb) of foot; rotation of ball of foot outward and of raising external border of foot and of extension of toes.” It is also the longest and widest single nerve in the human body, going from the top of the leg to the foot. It is derived from the spinal nerves known as L4 to S3.
“Trauma of the sciatic nerve can result from a ruptured intervertebral disk or osteoarthrosis of lumbosacral vertebrae. Inflammation of the sciatic nerve can result from metabolic, toxic, or infectious disorders.”
SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms may be abrupt or gradual. It is characterized by a sharp shooting pain running down the back of the thigh. Movement of the limb generally intensifies the pain. There are certain parts of the limb where the pain is more intense – however it is usually distributed uniformly along the limb. You may feel numbness, tingling, and the nerve may be sensitive to touch. Symptoms grow worse at night and on (surprisingly) the approach of stormy weather. The longevity of an attack can vary from a few days to several months. When you have long-suffering pain, the muscles grow atrophied and rigid.
TREATMENT:
Treatment is usually surgical intervention especially if due to ruptured intervertebral disk. If pain is acute rest is essential. Physicians will also recommend prescription pain killers, and sprays, and nerve stretching by pulling of the leg.
Realistically speaking…the body is a tremendous machine; fully capable of healing itself, fully aware of its issues, and with self-healing and cleaning mechanisms already built-in. It stands to reason that to improve your general health involving Sciatica issues, that a good nourishing diet, prolonged rest, and hot applications will give relief. When I have a problem with this, and I have had, especially having been a dancer, I take a 30 minute soak in the bathtub with water as hot as I am able to stand – around 104 degrees. I add epsom salts to the water as the magnesium in the salt is great for releasing pain. It works – the pain subsides and usually goes away completely. If done before you go to bed, it helps you to get a good nights sleep.
Further research indicates any neurological disorder, where the nerves, neuron (cells), are indicative of the problem, should be treated. Neurons are the highest energy centers in the body. They need an alkaline environment to be regenerated. This means they require high energy foods. Adrenal weakness is also present. Therefore the adrenal glands need to be enhanced. It is important to note that the body cannot regenerate itself with toxic chemicals. Toxic chemicals are seen by the natural body as invading foreign proteins which serve to further acidify the tissues, create further damage and constant inflammatory immune responses, which are usually treated by doctors with steroids, causing a vicious circle.
We have learned that SCIATICA stems from the SCIATICA NERVE; that it is painful; that doctors say it, this issue, cannot be fixed; and therefore doctors prescribe medications that only treat the symptoms. IT IS THE CAUSE THAT NEEDS TO BE TREATED!
How do you treat the cause?
The Answer…Strengthen every cell in your body through diet and herbs. Remember to Alkalize, Alkalize, Alkalize. Fruits have the highest electrical energy of all the foods. Fruits will regenerate the brain and nerve tissue, where vegetables will not. Vegetables are the builders; they are suitable to regenerate the muscle and skeletal tissue. It is that simple. We have a Brain and Nerve formula in the fyi health talk store which, in addition to the fruit alkalization process, will strengthen the spinal column, nerve centers and brain tissue. Remembering that the adrenal glands have also been affected, the Adrenal
Formula will enhance the adrenal glands where many of the body’s neurotransmitters and steroids are created. Other parts of the body linked with nerve issues include the thyroid, and parathyroid glands. We have formulas for those as well.
You need to start somewhere: a diet change is the place to begin. Refer to my earlier diet program for detoxing; it will help you get started with the regeneration/alkalization process. Don’t give up! Start believing that the body can regenerate itself. Our bodies become very acidic and toxic from the foods that we have been taught, throughout our lives, are good for us. My goal is to empower you to be your own best doctor.
As I researched this topic I learned there are many foot issues (toes, balls of feet, rotation, numbness, etc.) that are all related to the sciatica nerve. Who would have thought!
God knew what he was doing when He created humans. We really do need all of our body parts to be intact in order for our bodies to work properly and stay healthy.
A good physician enters into the picture when those desperately needed body parts are removed from our bodies, by surgery, by way of accident, or other means out of our control. The practicing doctor (there is a reason they call the doctor “practicing’) then has to figure how to make the body function as it normally should – which means we are human guinie pigs. However, that doesn’t mean we need to keep up that normalcy by taking prescription medications and becoming addicted to opioids. There are alternative methods, which through good nutrition, and herbal application, work miracles.
AGAIN, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, AND STAY FOCUSED ON GOOD HEALTH!
