We are all living in a world of hurt. That is why taking care of our health is so important.  We must remember that good health is not only physical but  also mental.

Today I am breaking away from the physical to focus on the mental. The mental must include God. Many years ago someone told me ‘the bible is the best psychiatrist in the world.’ I set aside time in the morning before the work day starts to do bible study.

Books - The Founders Bible

For Christmas I was given a book called The Founders’ Bible The origin of the Dream of Freedom. This book, in my opinion, should be a must read for everyone. It is a Bible with documented narrative which correlates life in biblical times, historically, with life as we are experiencing it today.

Politically speaking, this book states “The Constitution was truly based on the Bible and God’s laws for the people He created to live in the world. America is truly “A Bible Nation”. “Born in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence, she has had only one form of government since the U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1789. Neither our closest allies nor our fiercest enemies have experienced the stability with which we have been blessed.” As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated “In the formative days of the Republic, the directing influence of the bible exercised upon the fathers of the nation is conspicuously evident…”

I am at the  point in my study where Moses was told he would not be entering the promised land. Moses had prepared the people for 40 years in the desert teaching them at the directions of God – his covenants, laws, and commandments. Joshua has been given God’s charge to lead the Israelites across the Jordan river into the promised land. God explained as he had for their whole journey, “I will not fail you or forsake you.”

Paraphrased, the message given to the people in Joshua 1: 7-8, I feel is, as well, meant for us. God directs “Be strong and courageous; be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law commanded you; “do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.”  (8) “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

“In these verses God states that for those who will take His Word, immerse themselves in it and apply its principles to every aspect of life, those individuals will enjoy prosperity and success.

The following are affirmations of numerous of America’s Founding Fathers who personally experienced these benefits and repeatedly proclaimed their truth.  I am sharing them verbatim.

Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only law book and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited… What a Utopia – what a Paradise would this region be.” (John Adams, Signer of the Declaration)

The Bible is the chief moral cause of all that is good and the best corrector of all that is evil in human society – the best book for regulating the temporal concerns of men. All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war; proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.” (Noah Webster, Revolutionary soldier, Legislator, Judge, and “Schoolmaster to America”)

The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the Word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.” (John Jay, Original, Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court)

As you can see Joshua 1:8 is a great guiding passage for your life. It might be well if we all get immersed in God’s Word, meditate in it, apply it, and then WATCH THE BENEFICIAL RESULTS!
